1. Who you’re dealing with
PrepPal is operated by PrepPal — [REGISTERED NAME / SOLE TRADER NAME TO CONFIRM], [REGISTERED ADDRESS TO CONFIRM], Ireland (“we”, “us”). Using PrepPal — the website at preppal.ie or the iOS app — means you accept these terms. If you don’t, don’t use it.
2. Who can use it
PrepPal is built for second-level students in Ireland and anyone helping them. You need an account, and one verified email address.
- If you’re under 16, you can use PrepPal in full, but the optional analytics and reminder settings stay off until a parent or guardian confirms them. See the Privacy Policy.
- Don’t create an account for someone else, or share your login.
- Give us accurate information — in particular, tell us your real birth year. Getting that wrong changes what we’re legally allowed to do with your data, so it’s not a harmless fib.
3. What it costs
Nothing. PrepPal is free for students. There is no subscription, no paywall and no advertising. If that ever changes, we’ll tell you before it affects you, and anything you’ve already earned stays yours.
4. Credits and referrals
- Credits are an in-app reward. They have no cash value, can’t be bought, sold, transferred or exchanged for money, and they aren’t your property.
- You earn them by joining, by studying on a given day, and by referring friends who genuinely sign up.
- You spend them on things like fast-tracking a feature request or asking for a custom tool. Spending credits on a request means we’ll seriously consider and prioritise it — it is not a guarantee that we’ll build it. If we decide not to, ask us and we’ll refund the credits.
- Gaming the system — fake accounts, self-referrals, scripted “study” sessions, tampering with the app to award yourself credits — means we can zero your balance and close the account.
- If you delete your account, your credits go with it.
5. Using it properly
Don’t:
- break into, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer PrepPal, or try to reach other users’ data;
- upload anything illegal, abusive or harmful through the feature-request or custom-tool forms;
- copy our content wholesale and republish it as your own;
- use PrepPal to cheat in an examination.
We can suspend or close an account that does any of these.
6. Content and study material
The tools, wording, drills and explanations in PrepPal are ours, and are licensed to you for your own study only. Where we quote or paraphrase examination material, syllabus content or marking schemes, those remain the property of the State Examinations Commission, the NCCA or the relevant rights holder — PrepPal is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any of them.
Anything you write into PrepPal — feature requests, custom tool ideas, your own notes — stays yours. By sending us a request, you give us permission to read it and to build what it describes.
7. What we don’t promise
We work hard to keep PrepPal accurate and current, but exam syllabi, marking schemes and points requirements change, and content generated with AI assistance can be wrong. PrepPal is a study aid, not a substitute for your teacher, your textbook or the official SEC material.
- We don’t guarantee any particular grade, points total or exam outcome.
- Always check anything that matters against your teacher and the official documents.
- Course and points data are indicative — the CAO is the authority on CAO matters.
- PrepPal is provided “as is”. We don’t promise it will always be available or bug-free.
8. Your device data
A lot of your progress is stored on your device, not on our servers. Clearing your browser data, deleting the app or switching devices will lose it, and we usually can’t get it back. That’s the trade-off for keeping it private to you. See Cookies & storage.
9. Liability
Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law says can’t be limited — including your rights under Irish and EU consumer law, which these terms don’t affect.
Beyond that, and because PrepPal is provided free of charge, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost study progress, or for exam results.
10. Ending it
You can delete your account at any moment from Your data & privacy. It’s immediate and permanent. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and we’ll tell you why unless we’re legally prevented from doing so.
11. Changes
We’ll update these terms as PrepPal grows. Material changes bump the version number at the top and you’ll be asked to accept them next time you sign in.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country you live in.
